We arrived in Paris late in the afternoon of May 21st. After settling into our hotel and having a light dinner, we decided to head to the Eiffel Tower so that we could see it sparkle. The tower sparkles once an hour, on the hour, between sunset and midnight. With the sunsetting at 9:37 pm that first night, we decided to walk over. The walk was 2.5 miles from our hotel and we walked there and back - and I'm so glad that we did. The saw people sitting along the Siene having a bottle of wine and enjoying the evening. We saw packed discotheques. We saw families and young couples. And as we walked and walked, the Eiffel Tower got bigger and bigger. We were there in time to see it sparkle and for Emily to get some instagram photos. And then we people watched for while, before walking home. It was one of our longest days in France, but it was definitely worth it.
