After spending the morning in Port du Crouesty, we traveled by boat to Vannes for the afternoon. Vannes is a market town locate on the Gulf of Morbihan. Like so many towns in Brittany, Vannes was occurred by Britons/Bretons for various periods of time throughout history. Although our group had a guided tour of Vannes, we ended up peeling off and just exploring it on our own.
The port, located at the foot of St. Vincent gate.
St. Vincent Gate is a former city gate and today listed as a historic monument.
The Cathedrale Saint-Pierre de Vannes is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to St. Peter. Although the first building was erected around 1020, the present day church was constructed between the 15th and 19th centuries and was declared a basilica minor by Pope Pius IX in 1870.
